The course duration for the MSc in Leadership and Human Resource Management is one year, consisting of two semesters, and a dissertation period in the summer. Students will study six modules totalling 180 credits – four worth 15 credits each, one worth 30 credits, and one worth 60 credits.

Leadership and Management Development

Equip yourself with the techniques needed to critically evaluate the core theories, models and concepts of leadership. You will also learn the best modern practices and practical skills used in a professional environment, focusing on the development of human resource management skills.

Developing Skills for Business

Study the theory and practical skills required to critically self-evaluate your abilities as an effective manager. You will be trained in effective management techniques, as well as financial budgeting, data analysis, team work, interpersonal skills and decision-making.

Human Resource Management in Context

Evaluate the relationship between company environments and the office within which HR professionals work. You will investigate and implement models of organisational design and environmental analysis, and examine HRM issues and how they shape HR policy and practise.

Coaching and Mentoring

Understand the design and application of coaching methods, considering their impact from an ethical and professional point of view. You will examine a selection of psychological hypotheses that will help you develop vital coaching and mentoring techniques.

Organisation Design and Development

Evaluate the organisational design and development, and the assessment and application of variables regarding structures and relationships. You will investigate the role of HR in organisational design and development, and focus on cultural awareness, and the practical aspects of organisational design and organisational development concepts.

Leading, Managing and Developing People

Understand the relationships between HR routines and organisational results, as well as critically examining the theories of leadership in various professional contexts. You will focus on effective managerial techniques through the practical application of leadership and development skills.

Managing Employment Relations

Equip yourself with the skills necessary to critically analyse the employment relations within a national and international company. You will further develop the ability to apply data to real-world employee relation scenarios in order to ensure positive and successful management as an HR professional.

Research Methods, Investigating a Business Issue from an HRM Perspective

The research method and dissertation module carries 60 credits - the most credits out of all modules that you will study. You will learn the theory and practical research skills to critically evaluate business issues and activities in a real-world professional context by specialising in a topic of your choosing.
